Wright's original drawing included a detailed fruit fly character (sans hat) and amplifier in a three-dimensional style. The fruit fly is described as "Really Depressed."

Pencil Art Revision #1 - click to enlarge In a slight revision to the pencil art, the fly now wears a bluesman hat. Following this version, Topps asked Wright to simplify the fly character to be more similar to the two-dimensional style of Hostess's "Fruit Pie the Magician" icon...

The black border around the Hopeless package is more form-fitting on the art than on the printed card.

The Topps Vault sold the finished art for "Hopeless" for $1,136.01 in an eBay auction which ran from May 3 - 10, 2006.

Topps reworked the black border around the art in pre-press. The blue is a more vibrant hue in the printed card, but the white edges of the package wrapper acquired a yellow cast.

The Middle-middle (MM) piece of the "Slacker Jack" puzzle is found on the back of "Hopeless."
