Lynch's black & white rough does not provide color guidance, but the style of the package in his sketch is modeled on the standard blue Chips Ahoy! bag. Whether by his own choice or by editorial decision, Pound would paint it in the red packaging style of the Chewy Chips Ahoy! product instead.

The first step in Pound's art process was to lay out the image in pencil on tracing paper.

Pound sold the "Chimps Ahoy!" pencil art from his web site in 2004.

In plotting out the colors on a photocopy of the pencil drawing, Pound apparently considered a gray color for the chimp before settling on the brown.

The Topps Vault sold the finished art for "Chimps Ahoy!" for $2100.00 in an eBay auction which ran from June 26 to July 6, 2004.

"International Gravel," coupon #7 of 20, is found on the back of "Chimps Ahoy!" The John Pound art for this coupon was left over from Topps' aborted 1992 series.
